*Key Learnings*
- Team Understanding
- Learn about local teams of a grade which is relevant to you. Look to attend trainings where possible.
- Ask coaches prior to a game about what they've been working on this week, any plays you need to be aware of.
- Look and listen for cues as to the pattern of play that is unfolding.
- Adjust positioning to adapt to play, aim to not be in the way, but able to be in the best position to see what is about to unfold
- Relationships
- Prior to the game, connect with key personnel, such as coach, captain, numbers 9 and/or 10, and a "go-to" front rower.
- On game day there is only limited time to build rapport, but it can be done especially with pre and post game interactions.
- Connecting with teams outside of game day can provide opportunities to build better connections, and establish relationships
Connect with clubs or schools. Offer to contribute or just observe at trainings.
