2024 Baywide Secondary Schools and Senior Club Sevens Tournament Information
On Wednesday 30th October, Bay of Plenty Rugby hosted the 2024 Secondary Schools Sevens Tournament at Greerton Marist Rugby Club. 37 teams across 6 grades participated in the 1-day event over 4 fields. The winners of each division are as follows:
Junior Girls:
6 teams split into 2 pools played 2 pool games, with cross over semis and the 2 winners meeting in the final. Congratulations to Rotorua Girls High Junior Girls who won their final 38-5 against Tauranga Girls College.
Junior Boys:
14 teams split into 4 pools playing 2-3 pool games. The winners of each pool battled it out in semi finals before the 2 winners met in the final. Congratulations to Tauranga Boys College Junior A for their win 19-5 over Rotorua Boys High School Juniors Boys.
Intermediate Boys:
3 Yr 11 boys teams entered this new grade. Thery played each other twice and the top of the table crowned the winner. Congratulations to Tauranga Boys College Yr 11 for winning this grade.
Senior Girls:
4 teams played each other with the top of the table crowned the champions. Congratulations Te Whare Kura O Mauao Senior Girls for winning this grade.
Senior Boys:
5 teams played each other with the top two battling it out in a final. Congratulations Tauranga Boys College Senior B in winning their final 24-10 against Western Heights High School Senior Boys.
Condors Qualifier Boys:
4 teams entered in this grade fighting for 3 spots in the upcoming Condors National Secondary Schools Sevens Tournament being held at Blake Park at the end of November. Whakatane High School secured 3rd spot with archrivals Rotorua Boys High School finishing 1st after round robin, taking on Tauranga Boys College in the final. Tauranga Boys College Senior A grabbed bragging rights winning the final 24-12.
Condors Qualifier Girls:
Only Mount Maunganui College Senior Girls entered into the Condors Qualifier, so they automatically qualify for Condors Nationals.
